Privacy policy
There is no sign-up and no account: the figures you enter into the calculator stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere. Google Analytics 4 is active on every page, without setting cookies — Google still receives the page address, the referrer, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device type. The privacy policy will be updated whenever what the site does with data changes.
In short: this website requires no registration or account; the calculations run locally in your browser and never leave your device. Google Analytics 4 is active on every page, without setting cookies — Google nonetheless receives the page address, the referrer, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device type, as described below. The privacy policy will be updated whenever what the site does with data changes.
Data controller
This website is a free net-pay calculator for Portugal. It is operated and maintained by desymphony (the operating entity). The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, “GDPR”) is that operating entity; you can reach it at info@desymphony.com.
What data is processed
Using the calculator requires no sign-up, and we ourselves neither collect nor store any details that directly identify you — not your name, your tax number (NIF), your email address or the amounts you enter into the calculator. All calculations are carried out locally in your browser; your entries are not transmitted to a server and are not stored.
As with the operation of any website, the hosting provider may temporarily process technical connection data (for example a shortened IP address, the browser type and the time of access) in server logs, insofar as this is necessary for secure and stable operation. This data is not used to identify individual visitors and is not combined with other data sources.
This website also loads Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic, and that is the one source of visitor data we do not directly control: on every page view, Google receives the page address, the referrer, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device type. We describe the mechanism in full below, under “Analytics and advertising”.
Purpose and legal basis
Processing is governed by the GDPR and by the Portuguese law that implements it. Technically necessary operations — running the website and storing your language-suggestion preference — rely on the legitimate interest in a functioning, secure service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
For traffic measurement, here is the mechanism: this site stores nothing on and reads nothing to your device — no cookie, no identifier — which is why no cookie consent is sought to run it. That does not mean nothing is processed: on every page view, Google, as a third-party controller, receives the page address, the referrer, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device type — described in full in the next section. Every storage signal for analytics and advertising (including personalisation) stays denied by default, for every visitor, wherever you are, and nothing on this site ever lifts that denial.
Cookies
On an ordinary visit this website sets no cookie — not even Google Analytics 4, which is already active on every page but runs in cookieless mode. The only thing stored is a technically necessary language-suggestion preference in your browser’s local storage, so the “also available in …” suggestion does not reappear once you have closed it. There is nothing here to consent to and no consent mechanism to manage: should advertising ever be switched on and a cookie start being set, how to manage it will be described on the cookie policy page. You can, regardless, delete or block cookies at any time through your browser settings.
One exception, named here rather than passed over in silence: the gr_int flag, our own exclusion for internal visits. It is written only when you deliberately open a page with ?internal=1 appended — as a cookie with a lifetime of one year, and additionally in local storage — and the measurement code reads it on every page view. On an ordinary visit nothing is written. It holds a single flag and nothing about you; you delete it by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Analytics (already active) and advertising (not yet integrated)
Google Analytics 4 is already active, provided by Google LLC (USA) as a third party. Advertising — for example Google AdSense, which would fund the site’s free operation — remains unintegrated. While it runs alone, Google Analytics 4 operates in cookieless mode: it writes nothing to and reads nothing from your device. Even so, on every page view, Google receives, as a third party, the page address, the referrer, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device type — your IP address is personal data under the GDPR even though nothing is stored on your device, and that data may be processed outside Portugal.
There is no consent mechanism to describe for Google Analytics 4: every storage signal for analytics and advertising (including personalisation) stays denied by default, for every visitor, in every country, and nothing on this site ever lifts that denial — that permanent denial is what keeps the measurement cookieless. This has no effect on how the calculator works. Should advertising ever be introduced, this policy will be updated before it goes live, not after. Further information and settings:

The operating entity does not control the content of third-party advertising and is not liable for its accuracy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have, in particular, the following rights in relation to the controller:
- Access — to learn whether, and which, personal data about you is being processed.
- Rectification — to have inaccurate data corrected.
- Erasure — to request the deletion of your data.
- Restriction and objection — to object to processing or to have it restricted.
- Data portability — to receive your data in a common format or have it transferred.
- Withdrawal of consent — where processing is based on consent, to withdraw it at any time, without affecting past processing.
Since we ourselves collect no data that directly identifies you, our processing is in practice very limited. For data that Google processes as a third party through Google Analytics 4, already running, you also exercise your rights through Google’s tools (account and ad settings). This website sets no cookies of its own; you can, regardless, delete or block cookies of any origin at any time through your browser.
Do not send personal payroll data
Please do not email us personal details from your payslip — not your name, your tax number (NIF) or precise amounts. An example is enough for a rough estimate: the calculator never sends what you enter anywhere, so you do not need real figures to try it.
Supervisory authority
If you believe that the processing of your data breaches data-protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. In Portugal that is:
Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD)
Av. D. Carlos I, 134, 1.º, 1200-651 Lisboa

Contact
For any question about data protection and the processing of your data, you can reach us at info@desymphony.com. Suggestions and feedback about the calculator itself are welcome via the contact page.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy applies to the current version of the site and will be updated whenever what the site does with data changes. Google Analytics 4 is already reflected in this version, from the moment it started running on this site; should advertising ever be introduced, the policy will be updated at that same moment, not after. The version published on this page is the authoritative one. Last updated: agosto 2026.
